10U Girls Program

The Waunakee Youth Hockey Association (WYHA) Girls 10U Program is designed to build upon the strong foundation established in our 6U and 8U Girls Programs while preparing athletes for continued success in competitive girls hockey. At this level, players continue to develop advanced skating, puck skills, hockey IQ, positional play, and game strategy in a supportive environment that emphasizes both individual growth and team success.

The Girls 10U Program introduces full-ice hockey while continuing to prioritize player development. Practices focus on skating efficiency, edge work, puck possession, passing, shooting, defensive and offensive concepts, special teams fundamentals, and decision-making under game situations. Coaches encourage players to compete, challenge themselves, and develop confidence while maintaining a positive and encouraging team culture.

Players will participate in approximately 2-3 practices each week, league games, tournaments, and other competitive opportunities throughout the season. The program follows USA Hockey's American Development Model by providing age-appropriate training that balances skill development with competition and long-term athlete development.

Teams will compete against other girls and youth hockey associations throughout Wisconsin and neighboring areas, providing players with opportunities to experience competitive girls hockey while continuing to build friendships and develop as athletes.

The 10U Girls Program serves as an important step in the Waunakee Girls Hockey Pathway, preparing players for continued advancement into 12U and beyond while fostering confidence, leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a lifelong passion for the game.
